General Questions

Participate with your child. Stay engaged with them and the app. Be creative with challenges and rewards and have fun with your kids; maybe let them give YOU a challenge sometimes. If you’re having fun, if you’re taking on a challenge from them once in a while and adopting a healthier behavior too everyone will be inspired and have fun together. Remember, by engaging with your child through the Habitz app you’re empowering and teaching your kids to develop healthy habits and stick with them for life!

Absolutely! In fact, this is one of the most powerful features of Habitz. You can and should use Habitz to create your own custom goals to encourage positive behaviors like doing homework on time, practicing an instrument, doing chores or anything else that helps your child adopt or adapt behaviors. Make your own custom goals — that’s part of the fun (and benefit)!

Separate ‘kid’ profiles should be set up for each child using Habitz.

Yes, any device that can download the app on can use Habitz. There’s no limit on how many devices you can use to access your Habitz account. Some kids use Habitz primarily on their own devices but also occasionally use a version on a parents device, when they don’t have access to their own device.

Yes.  Habitz is cloud based, so an internet connect is required to use it.  The advantage of this is that the same data can be accessed from multiple devices, meaning a child could be using the Habitz app on their own device while the parent tracks progress on a separate device.

You can monitor their progress towards goals in the app and trust that they’ve done it. In addition, parents have pretty good radar for whether their child completed a task or challenge or not.

We know Habitz works because studies show that kids who develop healthy habits early are less likely to become obese or to develop diabetes or other health and behavioral problems. Studies also show that rewarded habits become long term habits. With Habitz, you set your child’s goals for making healthier choices. Habitz was developed using the expertise, research and methods of leading pediatric dietitians, sports coaches and behavioral psychologists to give parents a critical tool in helping their children lead healthier lives.

It depends on the child and how aggressively they pursue and achieve their goals, but as a general rule expect a couple of weeks.

Just minutes. Download the app to your phones, sign up and start having fun together while your child learns healthy Habitz.

Easy – it’s fun and kids like earning rewards like a sleepover with a friend or a toy from Amazon – all while learning to live healthier and making better choices. When you combine fun with rewards kids are going to like – that’s Habitz.

While we would have loved to have launched Habitz in both IOS and Android, this was not feasible. With that said we are absolutely planning on releasing an Android version of Habitz as soon as we can. Please check our website frequently for updates and thanks for your patience. For now please remember that Habitz works on all recent IOS devices, including iPads.

As mentioned, the Habitz team is comprised of world-class pediatric dietitians, behavior analysts, motivational psychology scientists. We worked together – and asked kids for their opinions, of course (!) – to develop the preset challenges. Based on what kids told us they like to do, and from our own research and understanding of children and child psychology, we developed the challenges with very specific end results in mind. All of the challenges, of course, contribute to getting them to learn about and make healthier choices.

Habitz was created by a team of world-class pediatric dietitians, behavior analysts, motivational psychology scientists. In conjunction with them, our team of professional storytellers creates engaging, fun and educational content to keep your kids entertained and having fun while they learn.

It’s natural as a parent to think children should make healthy choices simply because they should, but studies and data clear show that they don’t. With obesity, diabetes and sedentary living on the rise expecting kids to make the right choices isn’t working out very well. The good news is studies show that if kids are rewarded for behaviors they will eventually adopt and stick with those behaviors and eventually won’t ask for or expect a reward – they simply make it part of their daily routine. That’s what Habitz helps you – and your kids – achieve!

Rewards and Prizes

As goals are completed, your child earns Coinz that they can trade for kid-friendly rewards, like a sleepover or a toy from Amazon.

Parents pay a small amount for the prizes their children earn and select through the Habitz store, but there are also many “Activities” prizes that your child can be awarded that don’t cost anything.
